Today I had someone ask me where my passion for wellness come from?

I thought to myself well this is a really easy question to answer.

In truth it took me 30 minutes to actually answer. I went back and forth to the message. I typed and deleted and typed again.

Do you want to know what my reply was?

“My passion for wellness really grew from a time in my life where I felt like I had hit bottom. I had nothing left in the tank. It all grew from there and continues to grow. It really does need to be a holistic approach to wellness I believe you can’t just focus on one area.”

I feel like I really could have gone into it more, but I really didn’t know all the words. I’m not really a word person (I know I am writing a blog – go figure) but I struggle to put what is swirling through my head down into words. This is one of the reasons for starting this blog. The whole fake it until you make it approach, I guess. You know the growth mindset approach. The more I practice the more confident I will get.

What is wellness?

Global Wellness Day website states that “Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices towards a healthy and fulfilling life.  It is more than being free from illness, it is a dynamic process of change and growth. A good or satisfactory condition of existence; a state characterized by health, happiness, and prosperity; welfare.”

To be well is not to be sick. That was my belief right up until I realised wellness was a lot more than just if you have a cold or not. I believe that 100% that wellness needs to be holistic. Where it is about the whole person, looking at their physical, mental, spiritual and social needs. It is all a delicate balance. When one thing is off it tends to unbalance all other areas.

I would love to know your thoughts on the wellness. do you believe that it is a holistic approach too?

Until next time
